  • Overview

    As the Junior Trading Manager, you will be the key interface between the Buying and Merchandising teams and our stores to maximise sales and profit opportunities and execute the vision, strategy and plan for your territory.

    As the territory expert you will be working with internal functions such as Logistics, Marketing, Merchandising, Allocation and Retail, to create a vision, strategy and plan for your territory, looking at both short and long-term opportunities.

    You will be the key point of contact for the whole business when it comes to your territory.

    What you'll be doing


    • Managing the grading of your branches, ensuring the width and depth of the range is correct for all your stores.
    • Planning new store openings, ensuring a tailored stock package and a smoothly managed critical path.
    • Managing the space in stores to ensure we are getting the best possible return on our layouts. Ensuring to educate the business on differences for your territory versus others.
    • Planning weekly despatch volumes, and working with both supply chain and merchandising to hit these numbers as closely as possible
    • Managing both a regional and store level WSSI
    • Driving the overall seasonal, annual and strategic business department plans.
    • Proactively feeding into the lessons learnt process and partaking in seasonal strategy meetings



    • Identifying risks / opportunities in market and proactively driving market performance to achieve full sales potential.
    • Presents at weekly trade meetings and able to provide new insight into your market as opposed to just telling us what is happening for the wider business
    • Be the head office point of contact for Retail and ensure feedback is being given to Buying and Merchandising for improvements to the ranges.
    • Responsible for managing in store stock levels on a weekly basis and taking actions with Merchandising where necessary
    • Managing seasonal stock builds and stock exits
    • Driving the business to act, particularly when dealing with excess stocks in store and in the warehouse
    • Coordinating any special events for your market
    • Regularly visiting the stores in your region to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the needs of all your stores.

    We would love to meet someone with

    • You will line manage 1-2 direct reports so an ability to drive performance, coach and lead a team is essential, with previous experience preferred.
    • Previous experience in a Trading, Branch Planning or Branch Merchandising role is essential
    • A persuasive and assertive manner, with an ability to form strong relationships with other teams
    • Extremely numerate and confident in condensing lots of data/feedback into a meaningful list of actions.
    • Previous experience of fast paced or rapidly growing company
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Confident presenting to the senior leadership team
    • Ability to spot commercial opportunities.
    • Demonstrate experience in building consistently productive relationships.
