  • Overview

    Part of the People Team and Reporting into the Learning & Development Manager you will deliver an excellent L&D service to our Retail Employees and Store Managers.  This role is field based with time in our London office as needed.  The ideal candidate will have held a Store Manger position for an outdoor retailer.     

    An excellent facilitator and learning designer who role models our Brand Values in everything they do. The right candidate approaches the role from a brand level perspective – considering not just the UK but the wider international business.    Ensures the entire learning cycle is completed – from scoping/creation to review.  Our L&D Advisor will also support with running the learning inbox, answering queries from our retail team.

    Role Models brand values and behaviours

    • Feedback from stakeholders that the above behaviours are consistently demonstrated
    • Creates Learning content that is commercial, on brand, engaging and relevant to the audience
    • Considers all brands and audiences and is inclusive when designing content e.g. considers international

    Retail Induction

    • Create/Maintain/update induction material for all retail employees. Actively seeks to improve content based on feedback from Store and Area Managers. 
    • Collaborates with our Retail Recruitment Manager and our Training Managers to ensure all Management new starters into Mountain Warehouse are placed in the right training store and have the best experience possible during their two-week training.
    • Point of contact for Training Mangers. Runs train the trainer sessions in the field/London office to ensure we have consistency in approach, especially with new content launches.
    • Gathers feedback from new Managers
    • Acts on feedback from new Managers – coaches Training Managers to ensure consistency and shares feedback with Area Managers
    • Creates Monthly GDPR completion reports for Area Managers.

    Store Management Development

    • Owns the ‘Three Peaks’ Management development programme for Supervisors, Assistant Mangers and Store Managers.
    • Creates self-directed content that is engaging and commercial.
    • Launches the new ‘Three Peaks’ programme in a creative, on brand and engaging way.
    • Gathers feedback on the programme and actively uses this feedback to make improvements
    • Communicates changes to the programme clearly – particularly with Area and Training Managers. Ensures version control and runs train the trainer sessions when necessary with Training Managers. 
    • Collaborates with Area Managers to create a realistic calendar to deliver ‘The Guidebook’ workshops out in the field in the UK. Workshops chosen should tie into PDPs and Three Peaks programme.  These workshops should be run by individuals selected by the Area Manager – L&D Advisor to train the trainer these individuals so they are ready to run the sessions against the calendar of activity.  Regional rather than by area.    
    • Completes any admin tasks related to this e.g. course invitations

    Product Training

    • Collaborates with the Buying, Graphics and Retail teams to create a library of technical product training e-learning.
    • Thinks commercially to ensure any content produced drives sales and focuses on the correct product.
    • Runs completion reports for product training e-learning and communicates results to the retail teams in an engaging and motivating way
    • Creates and maintains a calendar of ‘just in time’ product training e.g. new season launches agreed with Retail and the Buying Team. If appropriate, creates incentives to accompany this training that engage and motivate our retail teams to participate and drive sales on these lines 
    • Creates learning KPIs by tracking how sales of these focus products have been impacted by completion of the training. Gathers anecdotal evidence from store teams and managers that the training is having an impact and pulls into a report  
    • Collaborates with Retail Ops to create engaging and inspiring comms to keep product training alive in store.
    • Identifies talent in our stores that could support with future product training initiatives e.g. a super passionate sales person who is an encyclopaedia of knowledge. Shares this information with the L&D Manager. 
    • Collaborates with the Customer Service team to create translations for international
    • Completes any admin tasks related to this

    Sales and Service Training

    • Works closely with the Retail team to produce a robust sales and service programme which gives our sales advisors the opportunity to progress and earn a higher hourly rate of pay based on completion of training.
    • Content should be self-directed, and e-learning based on the ‘Customer Journey’
    • Runs completion reports and works with Area/Store Mangers to ensure any pay increases are communicated to payroll in a timely manner
    • Launches the sales and service programme in a creative and engaging way that fits our brand
    • Ensures the programme is kept alive with our teams
    • Reviews the program – actively seeks feedback across all areas and uses the feedback to improve and enhance the content. Tests how realistic and relevant the content is – seeks feedback not just from managers but from store staff across the business. 
    • Works with the Customer Service team to create translations for international
    • Completes any admin tasks related to this

    Retail Management & Leadership apprenticeship

    • Supports with the administration and course design of the Management and Leadership apprenticeship
    • Is a point of contact for the cohort as they go through the programme
    • Is the point of contact for the supplier if they have any queries/feedback
