  • Overview

    Mountain Warehouse is an outdoor clothing & equipment retailer; we currently trade from over 300 stores including 16 in Poland. We also have a significant e-commerce site and trade through a variety of online marketplaces (Amazon & Ebay) in the UK and Internationally.

     

    Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager you will have ownership of the accurate accounting of our Polish entity under local GAAP and for Group Reporting and will take the lead on all Polish reporting and tax compliance. This role will be based on our Warsaw office. 

    What you'll be doing

    • Maintaining accounting records for the Polish Mountain Warehouse entity under local GAAP and for group reporting purposes. This includes preparing and posting all month end journal entries.
    • Reconciling the Polish GAAP ledger to the group ledger to ensure local GAAP differences are appropriately documented and understood.
    • Completing balance sheet reconciliations to agreed deadlines with all reconciling items investigated and resolved promptly.
    • Investigating and preparing narrative explaining variances to budget and prior year for key expense categories.
    • Preparing the annual financial statements in accordance with Polish GAAP.
    • Take the lead on preparation of deliverables for the audit and be a key contact for the auditors during the audit process.
    • Preparing and submitting the monthly Intrastat and VAT returns.
    • Preparing and submitting the annual tax return in accordance with local requirements.
    • Liaising with our payroll providers to ensure that the prepared payroll is accurate and on time.
    • Willingness to stay ahead of the latest reporting, compliance and accounting standard changes in Poland.
    • Identify opportunities to continuously improve financial systems and processes and implement these changes.
    • Provide hands on support if required to the Accounts Payable and Revenue and Treasury teams.
    • Ongoing non-business as usual project work within the finance team as and when required.

    We would love to meet someone with

    • Qualified accountant with up to two years PQE working in a large company.
    • Group reporting experience preferable but not essential.
    • Excellent English, numeracy and IT skills including advanced excel.
    • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and a desired to drive improvements in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial business.
    • Able to thrive in a dynamic work environment and juggle competing priorities.
